In the 2010-11 NBA season. Derrick Rose was Named the the leagues most valuable player. He would be the YOUNGEST MVP in the leagues history, before him there has only been 3 other PGs to receive this award ( Bob Cousy, Allen Iverson, Steve Nash ). That season Rose Avg (per game) 25.0 PPG, 7.7 AST. He Played and Started in 81 Games that season, leading the Chicago Bulls to a 62-20 Record and #1 Seed playoff spot. They would go on to lose in the ECF to the overpowered Miami Heat.
After his MVP Season we haven't Heard to much from D Rose. After winning MVP he started to draw MJ comparisons. Losing to the Heat in only 5 games, Rose avg 23.4 PPG, most thought the Bulls had a good chance to beat the Heat in the 2012 season.
The following season only played in 39 Games due to injuries. Rose signed a 5 years contract extension in december of 2011 for 5- Year $94.8 Million.
Rose was also voted an all-star starter for the 2nd straight year. He was the 2nd leading vote getter behind then olrando magic center Dwight Howard.
Bulls finished 50-16 that season (lockout season). During game 1 in the first rd of the playoffs vs the Philadelphia 76ers, Rose Injured his left knee on a hopset. He had to be helped off the court immediately. An MRI later reveled that he had a ACL tear. He missed the rest of the playoffs and the following season.
When he did come back for the 2013-14 Season Rose just wasn't the same player. Now his avgs did drop from his MVP season to the next. On November 22, He tore his menicus in his right knee that would require Surgery. he was averaging 15.9 PPPG.
The 2014-15 Season Rose returned to play for Chicago playing 51 games 17.7 PPG. In Feburary Rose needed another surgery on his right knee that would need surgery. He returned to the playoffs for the first time since 2012 but would lose to the Lebron James led Cavs.
Rose was edventually traded to the Knicks for a pack of Smokes. Rose was Hurt and Shaken up by the Trade news. He would then go on to play for the Cavs, T'wolves and now the Pistons.
Many say injuries played apart in reasons why D Rose never got back to MVP form.
He Recovered and played. with emarges NEW PGs, John Wall, Russell Westbrook, Steph Curry, Ja Morant. Derrick Rose maybe just had a incredible season.
