Summer League Recap

I was able to finally get a chance to check out the Kentuckiana Summer Basketball League hosted by Butler High School. From there I was able to see three of the top 2023 prospects in the city of Louisville. The League features Male’s Kaleb Glenn, Gabe Sisk of Ballard and Evangel’s Cyr Malonga.

The class of 2023 in the state of Kentucky is headlined by Male High School’s Kaleb Glenn. Glenn is a 6’7 chiseled sophomore forward that has always been known for his elite athleticism. He’s currently considered a Top 50 prospect. In spite of a shortened sophomore season due to COVID, Glenn was able to produce at a high clip averaging 20.5 points and 12.6 rebounds during the school year in only 11 games.

After watching his play against Manual, his skill set is much improved. He looks so much more comfortable and confident with the ball in his hands. He looks more polished and his overall skill set looks more refined. Multiple times throughout the match up with Manual, he was able to grab the rebound and take it the length of the floor where he’d advance the ball to a teammate. Also, he often was able to catch the ball on the perimeter and simply blow past the initial defender to get to the paint where he normally would draw a foul. On one occasion he had the ball in the corner around the three point line, he utilized a series of jab moves to create separation to get by his defender and finish at the rim.

We checked in with Kaleb after the game. Here’s what he shared with us regarding his recent unofficial visits to the University of Louisville, his overall development process and more.

Ballard coming off a recent Sweet 16 appearance led by sophomore Gabe Sisk appears to be looking to make another run. Sisk, a 6’5 combo guard, that is considered as a top 3 player in Kentucky already has offers from Iona and Eastern Kentucky. He showcased his athleticism and knack for always making plays. I was really impressed with his overall play. We checked in with him as his Bruins were able to overwhelm and defeat Evangel. Check out what he had to say regarding upcoming visits and more.

This was my first time checking out 6’10 big man Cyr Malonga in person. Malonga really surprised me with his fluidity and shot blocking prowess. He finished with multiple blocks and showed he’s an excellent rim runner at his size. In terms of his overall skill, he’s still raw. He’s only been playing basketball for two years so I was really impressed with his progression from videos I had seen of him. I know he recently attended the Memphis Tigers elite camp and was received well by head coach Penny Hardaway. Cyr was offered by the Me

phis Tigers today.

Overall, I look forward to keeping up with this trio. All three will be a big part of an exceptionally talented 2023 group in Kentucky. Stay tuned for more.
